We were in the barracks with the Texas Guard who were hosting the Adjutant General's Machine Gun Match. 240Bs, SAW 249s and an M60 in there somewhere. Lotta horsepower.

The Pride of Pittsburg, Texas, Clay Hefner.

Alone in my class- Any Rifle, Optical Sight. I won...and lost my class. Also came in second. Fun shooting a scoped sling rifle but I'm not going to bother again. Too lonesome. 1177X44 out of 1200. Ebay Leupold 16X target scope.

130 folks split roughly between F-class and sling shooters. Two-man team day on Friday, TSRA Championship was an aggregate of individual Saturday and Sunday Scores. We stayed in the barracks though folks were scattered between Elgin and Bastrop. Nice weather though we did have a bit of rain and plenty of wind. Directors Ken Gaby and Rick Crawford did an excellent job of running the match with help from Dave Wilson and Paul LaBerge. Rick keeps the results yardline by yardline on his computer and frequently prints out the results and posts them by the time you fall back to the next distance. Awards and trophies ready at the end. It's quite a production and I doubt most folks notice how much effort goes into it. Friday and Saturday night Rick and Ken worked nearly to midnight doing results and preparation and much of it had been done before the match weekend started.
I hope folks appreciate their effort!

Update: Good training to get a chance to shoot 44 rounds at 300, 500 and 600 yards with a good scoped rifle. All prone and using a sling. Got to see every shot. The rifle shot to what anyone would consider a "sniper rifle." Probably would group inside three inches at 600 yards in consistent conditions. Shot Xs in a row Xs on every yardline.

Update 2: Just counted brass out of the tumbler. 171 pieces out of 178, plus I found two that the army had fired.

Cool pictures!

One minor thing... F/TR uses the bipod (and is .223/.308), F/Open uses the benchrest front rest.

To come in second would seem to require one other person, just saying.......

First and last would be more accurate. At any rate: it was interesting training but not going to do it again.
