The good thing is that there are a lot of scientists who are skeptical, and this situation exploded because of them.
While some scientists have been feeding at the public trough, and politicians use this corrupted output for their own ends, a large number of scientists do what they normally do - look for data, analyze the data, and push for reproduceability.
I agree that there's been a lot of corruption, but it's correcting itself.
